The Andaman coast has two of the oldest and most diverse ecosystems on the planet - the coral reefs and Southeast Asia rainforests - co-existing together. Much of the marine life located here is at the extreme northern or southern ends of its geographical range, thus creating a huge variety in the underwater world. Imagine gliding weightlessly over colorful coral, surrounded by a dazzling array of tropical fish and marine life, with visibility as perfect as transparent glass.
The pristine waters of the Andaman Sea offer grade A visibility, and stand head over shoulders above the very best sites at both Ko Tao and Ko Samui. They have the advantage over other popular sites in Phi Phi and Phuket also as the diving is less crowded and groups smaller, offering more individual attention. Amongst the underwater sights to see are ancient, sunken ships; undersea caverns; tunnels and coves; rock reefs; deep drops; seamounts and pinnacles and limestone outcrops.
Diving on Ko Lanta is seasonal, and available from November through to April. During the months of May to October the tropical monsoon winds bring high waves and troublesome seas, with large amounts of plankton washed up into the ocean. Fishing and diving is suspended whilst sea life regenerates. Mother Nature takes care of herself, and the annual cycle of rebirth and regrowth maintains the abundance of marine diversity so appreciated by visitors.
Most of the scuba-diving shops are situated in Baan Saladan, at the north end of Ko Lanta, so if your primary objective in visiting the island is diving, we proudly to present you to dive with Go-Dive Lanta, they are The Thai Professional Operator and Padi Dive Centre located in Baan Saladan. Prices vary little; equipment, meals, and shuttle service to and from Lanta Sand Resort & Spa are usually inclusive. |
